Next mission for NATO SNMG-1: Exercise Dynamic Mongoose

Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1), currently composed of the U.S. flagship guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely, British frigate HMS Westminster, and Turkish frigate TCG Gokova, keep conducting opearations in a tireless manner. They participated annual joint and multinational maritime-focused exercise between June 09-21, 2019.

Under the command of Rear Adm. Edward Cashman, they have completed the 47th annual Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) succesfully and now look forward to the Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) exercise, Dynamic Mongoose, in order to maintain their momentum and continue to demonstrate NATO’s commitment to maintaining capable maritime forces in a high state of readiness.

With these purposes, Admiral Cashman pointed the importance of crew training and said; “Dynamic Mongoose will enable us to train against very capable sub-surface forces to ensure that our crews are able to respond to any potential threats, demonstrating NATOs commitment to the collective defense of all of the Allies.”

Dynamic Mongoose is an annual NATO-led anti-submarine warfare exercise. This year’s exercise involves naval and air forces from Canada, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States, as well as host nation Norway. 9 surface ships, 4 submarines and 4 maritime patrol aircrafts (MPA) will participate.

The exercise will be held between July 2nd-14th 2019.
