The 28th Chinese naval escort taskforce left the Port of Simon’s Town, Cape Town, South Africa, on Monday (July 2) morning after a four-day friendly visit.
During the visit, the commanding officers of the Chinese naval taskforce, together with their entourage, called on the military and government officials of South Africa and visited the South African Naval Museum and Navy Diving School.
The Chinese taskforce hosted a deck reception and organized its sailors to have a close look at South African naval ships. The two sides carried out friendly sports games as well as joint maritime exercises including subjects of formation movement and ship-to-ship communications. Through these activities the two sides had deepened the mutual understanding and enhanced their friendship.
South Africa is the last leg of the 28th Chinese naval escort taskforce’s African tour. Previously, the taskforce also paid friendly visits to Ghana, Cameroon, and Gabon.
